Hiring The Right People
1. RATIONAL
Qualifications and experience are important guides to how a person will function in a new job, but most people will work in a team and it is important to know what is the “human fit” – how they will get on with the other people in the team, and how they will fit with the personal requirements of the job. The lack of these factors often a person to fail in the job. Based on the work of Dr. Meredith Belbin this workshop – or consulting project – focuses on helping find the right fit at the human and team level when selecting people.
2. OUTCOMES
The workshop will enable you to:
- make better choices of candidate
- save time and money by avoiding finding out that the candidate is a poor team fit only after they have been appointed
- have a clearer idea about the candidate’s weaknesses and so better know how to develop them
- understand the candidate’s team strengths and hence know how better to use them

C. METHOD
The workshop will be highly practical with a mixture of short content inputs and interactive/experiential exercises. Individual and group exercises will enable participants to gain a real appreciation of their own behaviour and communication style. Numerous business case studies and dilemmas will be used. Methods will include: – short lectures, interactive/experiential exercises, Individual exercises, group discussions, simulations, role-plays, and paired discussion.
