Accelerating Women’s Leadership


1. RATIONALE

The growth of women leadership is one of the most important issues facing organizations today and therefore it is paramount that attention be given to training women leaders. This workshop will enable participants to focus on a variety of skills and mindsets that are important in their development. Participants will work in peer coaching or self leadership groups helping each other to be responsible for their own learning. The workshop will have the following elements:

(a) Pre-work – Learning Contract

  • Discussion with manager, focusing on leadership skills to be improved

(b) Self Leadership Groups (SLG)

Each participant will be part of a SLG, whose function would be:

  • Sharing of Contracts – each participant would share their learning contract
  • Peer Coaching – each member receives feedback and coaching on their leadership style
  • Learning application in the work place – each participant shares a key issue they currently face and receive help/coaching from peers
  • Continued Peer Coaching/Mentoring

2. OBJECTIVES

The programme will help women:

  • Clarify essential competencies for leaders in global organisations
  • Assess their current level of skill against those competencies
  • Identify key issues facing women leaders
  • Develop as a leader by practicing leadership skills in role plays and simulations
  • Identify issues for improvement in current role
  • Manage their own development by becoming skilled in self managed leadership learning
  • Identify career aspirations and next steps in that process
  • Identify and work with peer coaching and/or a senior mentor for improving leadership skills

3.  METHODOLOGY

The process of facilitation is very much learner centered with participants identifying where their strengths/weaknesses are and then focusing on how to move through blocks – both personal and organisational. Methods used will include: Role play, Peer coaching, Discussion group, Self Reflection, EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique, Conceptual inputs, Profiles & questionnaire survey, case studies, experiential activities & simulations
